The 1964 Triumph T90 350cc is a classic that embodies the golden age of motorcycling. With its sleek design and undeniable charisma, this motorcycle is a true symbol of British engineering.

The Tiger 90 was a development of the 1957 Twenty-One / 3TA model. The sportier 350cc twin borrowed many styling cues from the iconic Bonneville. At launch it was dubbed “Baby Bonnie.”

Triumph named the Bonnies after their alleged top speed ability. The T120 Bonneville was estimated at 120mph, the T90 at 90mph.

At first glance, the Triumph T90 captivates with its elegant lines and graceful proportions. This Triumph Tiger T90 is an original looking bike. Much of the period detail is present and correct. It’s a charming snapshot of 1960’s motorcycle culture.

The good ergonomics, coupled with well-placed controls, ensures a comfortable and engaging riding experience. Whether embarking on a leisurely cruise or pushing the limits on twisty roads, the Triumph T90 responds.

A low seat height makes this T90 a great prospect for an all-round leisure ride. The high bars and forward positioned pegs make for a comfortable, upright stance too.

The wide, flat bench-type saddle is classic Triumph. Even the modern retros have them. It provides plenty of room for rider and optional pillion. The functional grey/white and black/white Smiths gauges consist of speedo and ammeter set in the headlamp. A helpful chrome tank rack is fitted, reinforcing that period setting. It is practical too for things like maps etc. The contact points, grips, pegs, levers, and pedals appear to be in decent condition.

There are of course the usual and various age-related marks and wear and tear that you’d find on any bike of this period.

This Triumph T90 is fitted with 350cc air-cooled, four-stroke vertical twin engine. In very light weight of around 150kg, the 27bhp engine give the classic bike a usual friendly feel but with an agility that is sometimes hard to find in bigger classics. This means the T90 is easy to live with and gives it wide appeal.

Our view

In a modern world driven by huge 150bhp machines with more technology than NASA, classic bikes like this 1964 Triumph Tiger 90 stands as a testimony to the enduring allure of vintage motorcycles. In the world of vintage motorcycles, the Triumph T90 remains a cherished gem. Although this one could do with a polish here and there.

Its classic aesthetics make it a collector’s item. Whether you’re a nostalgic enthusiast or a discerning rider, the T90 promises an unforgettable journey through time and an opportunity to experience the magic of a bygone era.
