Now for something very different.

This is an opportunity. An opportunity to own a classic Renault Estafette van that was once ubiquitous but is now vanishingly rare. Not only that, the chance to own a flourishing, growing business too. This combination doesn’t come along every day. Our advice? Don’t miss it.

Background. The Plan

After dreaming of recapturing some of the pleasure in arranging their own wedding celebrations, our vendors Lisa and John embarked on a cunning plan.

Their special day had a Photo Booth which proved to be massively popular, great fun and captured many memories. With this in mind, they found the Instacam Van – this now pops up at parties, corporate events and special one offs. It’s versatility means it can adapt to pretty much anything, inside or out. And it’s uniqueness almost guarantees a steady flow of customers.

Background. The Renault Estafette.

  • A cultural icon
  • Front mounted engine
  • Front wheel drive
  • Maximum space in the rear
  • Painstakingly restored” and converted by the previous owner
  • Swathes of gallic charm

The Renault Estafette, from the Italian word ‘staffetta’ meaning courier or messenger, was launched in 1959.

It was a technological revolution. It was also Renault’s first front wheel drive van. With the engine mounted directly ahead of and driving the front wheels, it offers a flat, low, and unobstructed rear space. This makes it hugely practical, as you’ll see from the images. The  design results in a shockingly small footprint, meaning it fits at pretty much any event you have in mind. The French are clever aren’t they.

The Tardis effect made it immensely popular. They were used as a mobile shops, for deliveries and at markets. The other massive draw was that a someone could stand inside. Eventually the classic Estafette morphed into the Renault Traffic.

As a stand-alone classic, the Renault Estafette never lost its popularity. There are plenty of fan clubs dedicated to it. Around 530,000 were built between 1959 and 1980. Many Estafettes have disappeared over the years. Dedicated fans keep those that are left going with great care and love. It’s easy to understand why, these little vans are so cool.

The business opportunity

There are mobile photo booths, and there’s the Instacam Van.

  • An immersive, unique Photo Booth experience
  • Hand painted copper leaf signage
  • Numerous props
  • Green screens
  • High quality photo editing software

At any event the classic Estafette makes a real statement, turning heads with a beautifully restored, vintage classic.

The retro exterior with its hand painted, copper-leaf signage gives more than a hint of theatre.

Pull back the red velvet curtain to reveal something quite stunning. An elegant oak effect clad interior. Steamer trunks full of props to suit every occasion. All of it will immerse you in a wonderful, fun experience.

It’s not all retro though. It comes fully kitted with modern equipment and software. One example is the inclusion of use the ‘green screen’ technology which allows you to escape to any chosen location, with the backdrop to some banging tunes from the sound system. Hi-spec video technology is also included.

The combination of modern and retro is a huge draw at any event. Talk about the ‘Wow’ Factor.

Our view

These don’t come along every day do they.

The Renault Estafette powered Europe through the post-war years. From shop keepers to the Gendarmerie,  everyone had one. They were a very common site at the legendary Tour de France. As a classic van it stands on its own and of course has an intrinsic value.

Add that Gallic charm, individuality and rarity to an established modern business model as our vendors have, and the combined opportunity is limited only to the new owners ambition.

Our vendors currently run the business as a hobby within the West Midlands area but the scope to cover nationwide events is huge – weddings, parties, social gatherings, sports events, in fact anywhere where there is more than half a dozen people. Best of all; classic shows..

Still not sure? The Evoke Team took the Estafette to one of the biggest classic car gatherings of the year – the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at Birmingham’s NEC  in November, the interest was huge and bonus.. we raised some money for our two chosen charities by offering photographs. This van will stop people in their tracks – they want to have a chat and see what it’s all about then get inside and have their photos taken! Give us a call or drop us a mail if you’d like to chat to us about it.
