As is always the case, Citroën were constantly evolving as well as involving. The Acadiane launched in 1977 and production continued until 1987. This example is from 1982. The model mated the front of the Dyane and load area of the previous AK 400 van. It was an instant success, of course it was.

When was the last time you saw one of these? Then look again and ask yourself, when was the last time you saw one of these in this condition? Sometime never, probably.

Original, characterful and full of charm. The Citroën Acadiane become not only a massive success but an icon in France where many are still in everyday business use.

In the UK the effortless ride, practicality plus that quirky and fun design lends the Acadiane to a whole host of uses. They are always popular and one like this that is ready to go even more so.

History

  • With our vendor for around six years
  • Fully restored five years ago

Outside

There is a photo restoration of the Citroën in the Image Gallery. You’ll see the body has come off so everything could be accessed.

New panels were sourced where needed. The whole outside was coated in hi-build primer then sanded to deal with any imperfections. Finally, that unmistakable fetching French Fawn colour covered the entire Acadiane. The body was then re-united with the rest of the van.

Mechanicals

Before the reunification took place various mechanical items were dealt with:

  • New clutch
  • New shock absorbers
  • New brakes
  • Two new front tyres

The Citroën engines are legendary. That is one reason why so many are still in use in France; frugal, simple and they go on and on and on.

There is something supremely practical about the long travel suspension which makes light work of all road surfaces. The well sorted Citroën running gear makes its easy and fun to bomb about, cruising along sweetly at 50mph if you need to.

Please also note that a new MOT has just been put on the Acadiane, expiring in January 2024.

Inside

Great load space and well finished, but this Citroën Acadiane retains its Gallic charm.

The interior of the Acadiane is in good condition. It has that nice mixture of being good but not too good.

All the switch gear is operational and the dash area is clean tidy. The utilitarian door cards wear their age as do the seats. That is us being picky. The condition of these take nothing away from this 1978 example, in fact they add something to it.

The load space is lovely and tidy and very practical. The wooden panelling finishes the inside off  well. As you’d expect after a restoration of this quality, everything is in good order.

Bottom line

We always ask our vendors for their comments;

I have fully restored this van five years ago. It’s had a new clutch, brakes, shock absorbers, front tyres and the body was removed from the chassis. Most of the body work was purchased as new as you can see in the pictures, the vehicle has been stood for 5 years without been run on the road. The under side of the vehicle is rock solid, as a result of this there is no work whatsoever on this part”.

Classic commercials are always double popular. These charming Citroens, packed with character are no exception.

To come across a gem like this is a real find. It is rare enough to find a Citroen Acadiane now, let alone one in this condition.

Our realistic vendor has reserved this sensibly. He know he is not going to recover the fortune he has sunk into it. So a lucky winning bidder is getting the benefit of all that.

The appeal and range of uses for these is widespread. You could even have a night in the back under the stars, if you wanted. We’d prefer a night under a roof in a B&B but we’d definitely use the Acadiane to get us there.

Good luck bidding! Please remember, our site uses anti-sniping software which ensures fairness to all bidders. So, if a bid for a lot is received in the last minute, the auction will go into a 2-minute overtime period for each subsequent bid.

Vehicle Location: Mexborough, South Yorkshire S64– it’s the responsibility of the buyer to make collection / transportation arrangements directly with the vendor.

Guide Prices?

We’re different. But you know that. And we’re always honest. In a sector where no two classics are same, how does anyone put a ‘guide’.

Well, everyone knows the broad value of classic, let’s all be honest. So we don’t need to tell you what you already know, do we.

The ‘market’ decides and the old cliché that ‘it’s worth what someone wants to pay’ is no less true. So why kid everyone!

But, because we are different, if it really does matter to you, that’s fine, we want you to be happy. Just drop us a line at auction@evoke-classics.com and one of us will be delighted to ring you back and discuss, it’s what we do.

Tedious but it’s vital you read this, please.

We will always strive to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings available. However, we can’t claim to be perfect. Your own analysis is very important and we are here to help and also answer any and all queries you may have prior to purchase.

We offer and positively encourage buyers to view, or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding.

If we do take a physical, as opposed to a remote, look at any of the vehicles on our platform, they are not those of a qualified vehicle inspector or other professional. Nor do they include a test drive unless expressly stated.

As with all vehicles of a certain age, localised paint repairs are common. This specifically applies with classics.

So, please, unless we state explicitly to the contrary, please assume that classic vehicles on our platform could have had remedial bodywork of any kind at some point in its life.

Two final comments on images and photos.

The vast majority are supplied by vendors. Camera technology has and continues to improve significantly, but please note and understand that image and sound quality does vary. If you would like vendors to provide more images please ask us and we will contact the vendor for you.

If you are at all unsure, just ask us. It is what we are here for.

Finally, finally, finally. Please note that vehicles are sold as seen and a returns policy is not applicable. This is the norm for used items acquired at auction.
