Finished in Burgundy Red with fabric trim in Helix Shadow, this thirty four year old Ford Escort 1.6L Estate is absolutely smashing.

The vendor has used and cared for the Escort over the last year, keeping it in dry storage to retain its lovely condition. During his ownership he has fitted a new battery, sump gasket, water pump and starter motor and treated the underside with Waxoyl. The offside front wing has clearly had repair work at some time but this does not distract from how super clean the bodywork is overall. The paintwork has been touched up and rectified in areas around the car, some of which are shown on the photographs, please do take time to study them. The sunroof seal has started to perish and will more than likely require replacing , there is no evidence of water ingress as the car is currently dry stored. The mileage of 38,000 looks to be correct and is backed up by MOT certificates dating back to 1992.

Climb inside and the Escort’s interior is like a time warp. The trim is in fabulous condition, commensurate with its 38,000 miles. Factory fitted Ford stereo with cassette player and cassette tape holder to display your favourite 80’s mix tapes!

Under the bonnet, the engine bay has clearly been looked after and the 1600 Ford engine coupled to a five speed gearbox runs sweetly.

Previous MOT’s, the service booklet (with no stamps) and V5, along with four original Ford wheel trims are supplied with the car.

There’s nothing flash about this Ford Escort 1.6L Estate but it is delightful and totally unexceptional.

So grab your legwarmers, backcomb your barnet and take a trip back to the 80’s where life seemed so much simpler!
