There’s nothing quite like the feeling of being out on the open roads or of being able to ride a motorcycle without a care in the world. Well, what about if your health no longer allows that, maybe you don’t have a motorcycle licence, now there is another option.  Buy a three wheeled motorcycle, or trike as they are more commonly known.

Having an extra wheel on your motorbike may be rare, but is nothing new. Over the years, manufacturers and custom bike builders have been adding extra wheels to their bikes for various reasons.

The Trike we have here is quite a rare beast in the UK as it was originally built in Germany, but don’t let that fool you. Those in the know appreciate the quality of these Toth Trikes, built by TWA and being pretty much the same as Boom and Rewaco UK models, parts are easy enough to source.

There is not a great deal of history with the bike but what we do know is that our current owner acquired the Trike from his late good friend, an ex-military police special forces officer who flew helicopters in his later years. He always wanted a trike and searched high and low before purchasing this beauty only to became ill shortly after its purchase. This sadly stunted his enjoyment of the bike only allowing him to ride the trike once before passing away, an amazing guy and amazing life.

We can also see from the paperwork that the bike was first registered in Germany on 12^th January 1989 and found its way to the UK in 2007 and was registered here in July of that year.  It will come with the V5, two keys the number plate authorisation documentation and a dozen or so old MOTs.

This Toth Trike

With its black basecoat drowned in colourful metalflake and then lacquered, the trike glistens extraordinarily in the sun and garnishes loads of attention wherever it goes, a beautiful thing indeed.  Our vendor has shared that the paintwork is in wonderful condition with the only minor blemish being a small nick under the instrument panel.  There are no rips, tears or discolouring in the seats.

The Volkswagen 1600cc air cooled engines that were fitted to these when built still pulls like a train and as you can see from the images is very clean and tidy with no unsightly leaks. The 15inch wheels are also in great nick with no obvious damage and there’s plenty of tread left on the 275/50/15 General Grabber Tyres. The 18in Metzeler front tyre is just as good with all three being described as almost new.

This Toth Trike has a Bluetooth CD player and speakers fitted behind the passenger that are in working order although the vendor shared that the radio is not connected to an aerial at present so you may want to fill that huge top box with some CDs of your choice.

As you can see from the images the exhausts and chrome work are all in super condition, in fact there is nothing on the bike that detracts from describing it as in fantastic condition, there is nothing that does not work as it should and it is ready to go.

Our Vendor has stated that he will have it MOT’d prior to the winning bidder arranging collection and the great number plate of F31MRC with stay with the bike.  What more could you ask for?

Our View

With so much stability and comfort we completely understand the attraction of three wheeled motorcycling, especially with such a quality build.

A great deal of the attraction with these bikes is not only the safety and comfort but also how they present, it is very common for owners of these to be in clubs and go to members meets showing off their wares. This wonderful example will fit straight in with its polished pipes and stunning paintwork, just be prepared to share your experience with it to the myriad of interested parties that will be approaching you every time you stop!

What else can be said about this other than, if you haven’t ridden a Trike then you won’t go wrong choosing this Toth Trike as your first one, and if you have owned Trikes before, then this stunningly built example will be one to use and enjoy for years to come.
