In late-1987, for the 1988 model year, the P100 Pick Up was re-bodied with a new Ford Sierra-based cab. Engine choices were originally the Sierra’s 2.0 litre “Pinto” carburetted petrol engine, with a 1.8 L turbo-diesel following soon thereafter. This particular Pick Up is fitted with the 2.0 litre Pinto. The range was now built in Portugal for the European market, to a design set out by Ford UK. It proved a strong seller, particularly on the UK market. The later P100’s petrol engine, whilst a 2.0 L Pinto engine, differed from the units in the passenger Sierra and Granada models in that it was a low compression version of the 205 block Pinto. The Cosworth engine is also based on this block and as such they are often modified for drifting with a Cosworth engine.
Our particular P100 has come to market as our vendor, who is an avid Ford collector now needs to reduce the collection. Checking the MOT history has shown that it has only travelled around three thousand miles in the last eight years. In fact the mileage was only 48,000 in 2006 which leads us to believe the mileage to be genuine, certainly looking at the lack of wear and tear on the car it would seem correct and true. But as always, please make your own enquiries.
Although lacking a big document pack, our P100 certainly makes up for that in spades with its perfect bodywork and paintwork. It will come with the current V5 and what is quite rare these days, a sales brochure of the P100. It will also come with a brand new MOT.
Exterior
The Signal Red exterior is in outstanding condition as it has benefitted from a full repaint. This was carried out around three years ago and the P100 has virtually not been used since – it really is at the top of its game when considering how these trucks were treated during their life.
Our vendor sourced a correct Truckman box and has had that repainted to match the quality of the rest of the bodywork. We are looking at a very, very tidy version of what are generally workhorse trucks, this P100 can definitely not be described as that, and should be described more like it actually is, a collector’s item.
It even still has the proper Ford rubber mat in the rear pick up area, another reason to believe that the mileage is correct, especially considering how rare it is to see one with its original mat. That said, just look at the lack of dings and dents in the bed area, was this ever used for work? We cannot guarantee that statement but just take a look yourself, it really is that clean.
The underneath is nice and solid, as you can see from the images our vendor has spent quite a lot of time tidying up the running gear and floorpan. Even taking the time to remove all the surface rust before treating it to waxoyl and paint so it has no chance to return.
Interior
Being over thirty years old now you would expect to see some signs of wear and tear but the only blemish to be spotted are a couple of cigarette burns on the driver’s seat base. The pedal rubbers, steering wheel and gear knob all look relative to the 65k mileage, I.E. virtually no wear and the roof lining is perfect.
Even the dashboard has no cracks which is pretty remarkable considering how common it was for these to bake brittle in the sun.
Our vendor has advised that all the switches work correctly and operate the ancillaries as they should.
Engine
As previously stated, the paperwork does not warrant the mileage on this P100 but the condition and MOT history do point to it being true and correct. In fact, looking at MOTs from 2007 to the last one in 2105, the mileage went from 48k to 62k miles during this period, so this P100 was averaging just 2k miles a year.
The 2.0 litre OHC Pinto engine runs wonderfully and will benefit from a brand new cambelt and a full oil and filter service before our winning bidder collects it, in fact our vendor has also stated that he will put a brand-new MOT on the Pick Up as well.
What more could you ask for. Another 65,000 miles of trouble-free motoring should you decide to use this as a daily which, unlike some classic trucks, you could actually do.
Our vendor has even replaced the radiator as he spotted a very small leak.
There really isn’t anything else needed to be done to this remarkable example.
Wheels Tyres Suspension and other
Along with the rest of the exterior the wheels also look fantastic. Recently powder coated with the correct silver paint and with 185 R14 tyres fitted at the same time they can only be described as “as new”.
Our vendor shared that the truck drives straight and true with no knocks or grumbles and from the images, the underneath all looks pretty good.
With our vendor renewing the MOT the above will be confirmed so another reason to feel confident of this being a very, very good example.
Our view
With so many of these sought after Pick Ups worked to an inch of their lives we have the pleasure of listing this excellent example and fully expect it to reach its reserve quite quickly.
Being supplied with a brand new MOT, a full oil and filter service plus the cambelt being replaced you will be winning a splendid Pick Up that will be ready to use every day or to just add to that growing collection. Your money, your choice.
Whatever you decide we believe you will be purchasing one of the best examples currently in the market so get bidding and good luck.
Vehicle Location: Aberystwyth. Ceredigion SY23– it’s the responsibility of the winning bidder to make collection / transportation arrangements directly with the vendor.

Guide Prices?
We’re different. But you know that. And we’re always honest. In a sector where no two classics are same, how does anyone put a ‘guide’.
Well, everyone knows the broad value of classic, let’s all be honest. So we don’t need to tell you what you already know, do we.
The ‘market’ decides and the old cliché that ‘it’s are worth what someone wants to pay’ is no less true. So why kid everyone!
But, because we are different, if it really does matter to you, that’s fine, we want you to be happy. Just drop us a line at auction@evoke-classics.com and one of us will be delighted to ring you back and discuss, it’s what we do.
Tedious but it’s vital you read this, please.
We will always strive to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings available. However, we can’t claim to be perfect. Your own analysis is very important and we are here to help and also answer any and all queries you may have prior to purchase.
We offer and positively encourage bidders to view, or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding.
If we do take a physical, as opposed to a remote, look at any of the vehicles on our platform, they are not those of a qualified vehicle inspector or other professional. Nor do they include a test drive unless expressly stated.
As with all vehicles of a certain age, localised paint repairs are common. This specifically applies with classics.
So, please, unless we state explicitly to the contrary, please assume that classic vehicles on our platform could have had remedial bodywork of any kind at some point in its life.
Two final comments on images and photos.
The vast majority are supplied by vendors. Camera technology has and continues to improve significantly, but please note and understand that image and sound quality does vary. If you would like vendors to provide more images please ask us and we will contact the vendor for you.
If you are at all unsure, just ask us. It is what we are here for.
Finally, finally, finally. Please note that vehicles are sold as seen and a returns policy is not applicable. This is the norm for used items acquired at auction.
