We are delighted to have this Rolls Royce Silver Spur which is part of a small collection of classics from the estate of the late Dr Allam.

Assem Allam became one of the most successful businessmen the county of Yorkshire has known. He was not your average multi-millionaire.

As a student in 1968, he was forced out from his native Egypt after speaking out against dictator Nasser’s regime. After a month in Germany he came to East Yorkshire.  Speaking to the Hull Daily Mail he said: “The people here in Yorkshire made me feel very welcome. I came here for a month and I stayed for 42 years.”

Mr Allam started life in the UK studying economics at the University of Hull and began work as an accountant. He built the successful business; Allam Marine, transforming the diesel generators manufacturer into a global player. Along the way amassed an impressive string of accolades, including twice winning the Queen’s Award for Enterprise and UK Entrepreneur of the Year

The Allam family became synonymous for their philanthropic gestures.

Millions of pounds have been pumped into education and healthcare in the region. This included support for the Daisy Appeal at Castle Hill Hospital, a birth centre within Hull Women and Children’s Hospital, a new diabetes treatment centre at Hull Royal Infirmary, partly paid for with a donation from Mr Allam. The family also donated to the University of Hull to establish a new bio-sciences research centre, not forgetting the Allam Medical Building, also at the University of Hull which was one of his favourites as it was opened by Queen Elizabeth II. Dr Assem Allam, died at the age of 83 in December 2022.

The Rolls Royce Silver Spur

The Silver Spur is the benchmark for luxury cars. A magnificent vehicle, timeless design, spacious interior, and advanced features: all of that plus an unparalleled driving experience.

History & Paperwork

  • Literally thousands of pounds worth of Main Dealer invoices
  • We stopped counting at £50,000
  • Original sales invoice
  • A Silver Spirit was part exchanged for this Spur
  • A unique build

Records show two remarkable things about this Rolls Royce making it not just unique, but an important classic historically

Decoding the chassis number is the key – SCAZN 15ES XCH 66585. The 6th and 7th digits denote the engine. For the model year 1999 all the other Spurs have ‘19’. This Spur has unique ‘15’ turbo engine designation. Ch No. 66585 is shown as the last RHD Silver Spur produced.

Inside

  • Magnolia Hide with optional Blue Piping
  • Tilt-adjustable steering wheel
  • Excellent instrumentation and switchgear
  • Cruise control, dual airbags and alarm
  • Door trims in good condition – one needs a good going over
  • Heated memory front seats
  • Wilton carpets
  • Headlining in good condition
  • Boot space in great condition – with optional umbrellas. (For the Summer!)

To be honest, it would be easier to list what this Silver Spur doesn’t have. One thing it does have however, is damaged upper door cappings – although they are not beyond repair. The images are clear and numerous so the new owner can make a judgement.

Putting the door cappings to one side, you can see that the interior of the Rolls Royce Silver Spur is a marvel of craftsmanship and luxury. The cabin is spacious and comfortable, with plush leather seats and handcrafted wood trim. The attention to detail is evident in every aspect.

The Silver Spur comes equipped with a host of advanced features, including a wonderful sound system, climate control, and a navigation system. All of which are seamlessly integrated into the car’s design. The Silver Spur’s interior is a true work of art. Once you’re inside, it provides a truly immersive experience.

Outside

This Rolls Royce Silver Spur in Midnight Blue has a classic, timeless look.

The smooth lines and elegant curves radiate luxury. The car’s imposing front grille is flanked by headlights, while the long wheelbase and sculpted side panels accentuate its sense of motion.

However, no British classic is vaccinated against British tin-worm sadly, not even a mighty Rolls Silver Spur. Our vendor has been extremely candid. This Spur has multiple areas that will need attention, there is no way of glossing over that fact. It is in all the usual places: around the wheel arches, the headlamps, the bottoms of the doors etc. To the experienced eye it is all cosmetic, but there’s a lot of it.

We’ve seen this Spur up close, so once you’ve digested the images, if you’d like any more info, please do talk to us.

Any Silver Spur’s exterior is a beautiful and functional work of art that embodies the luxury and prestige of the Rolls Royce brand. In that sense, this one is no different. A wonderful looking classic.

Mechanicals

  • Main Dealer stamped service history book
  • Literally thousands of pounds spent
  • Only 64,000 miles
  • The last service carried out at 62,000 miles
  • Long MOT  – expires December 2023

Our vendor has owned this since 2002. It was purchased from JCT 600 in Leeds with just 6,437 miles for a whooping £77,000. Today the mileage is 64,000.

This Rolls Royce Silver Spur is significant not only as being the last RHD off the production line, but also because it was the only Spur to be fitted with this engine.

The Spur has a full main dealer service history. There are copies of emails on file to the owner’s PA asking her to authorise specific amounts, the emails go on and on and on. We doubt there is any nut and bolt that hasn’t been unscrewed on this Rolls Royce.

We’re being flippant, but it is important. We often see RR’s come to market that simply have not been maintained. Down that road spells danger. This RR has had as much spent on maintenance as on the original purchase price.

Additional Information

This Spur is from the deceased estate of Dr Allam. Along with donating millions of pounds to charity he was also a very successful entrepreneur. He was recognised for that contribution by being invited by her late Majesty to Buck House not once, but twice. This Spur is the one he loved and used for those visits.

Summary

Silver Spurs standout in their own right, but what we have here is incredibly unique.

  • An amazing service history
  • Good provenance
  • Unique build and of course – the last Spur off the line in RHD

Of course, it needs remedial body repairs. If it hadn’t been for the sad passing of the owner, we suspect that would have been carried out because it really is a special Spur.

That presents a serious opportunity now. Good luck.

Please remember, our site uses anti-sniping software which ensures fairness to all bidders. So, if a bid for a lot is received in the last minute, the auction will go into a 2-minute overtime period for each subsequent bid.

Vehicle Location: Hull, East Yorkshire HU14 – it’s the responsibility of the winning bidder to make collection / transportation arrangements directly with the vendor.

 Guide Prices?

We’re different. But you know that. And we’re always honest. In a sector where no two classics are same, how does anyone put a ‘guide’.

Well, everyone knows the broad value of classic, let’s all be honest. So we don’t need to tell you what you already know, do we.

The ‘market’ decides and the old cliché that ‘it’s are worth what someone wants to pay’ is no less true. So why kid everyone!

But, because we are different, if it really does matter to you, that’s fine, we want you to be happy. Just drop us a line at auction@evoke-classics.com and one of us will be delighted to ring you back and discuss, it’s what we do.

Tedious but it’s vital you read this, please.

We will always strive to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings available. However, we can’t claim to be perfect. Your own analysis is very important and we are here to help and also answer any and all queries you may have prior to purchase.

We offer and positively encourage bidders to view, or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding.

If we do take a physical, as opposed to a remote, look at any of the vehicles on our platform, they are not those of a qualified vehicle inspector or other professional. Nor do they include a test drive unless expressly stated.

As with all vehicles of a certain age, localised paint repairs are common. This specifically applies with classics.

So, please, unless we state explicitly to the contrary, please assume that classic vehicles on our platform could have had remedial bodywork of any kind at some point in its life.

Two final comments on images and photos.

The vast majority are supplied by vendors. Camera technology has and continues to improve significantly, but please note and understand that image and sound quality does vary. If you would like vendors to provide more images please ask us and we will contact the vendor for you.

If you are at all unsure, just ask us. It is what we are here for.

Finally, finally, finally. Please note that vehicles are sold as seen and a returns policy is not applicable. This is the norm for used items acquired at auction.
