Crabbers News

Welcome to Crabbers News Corner, my little piece of the Interweb where I waffle on about all things classic.

Weekend events, Buyers Guides and Buy It Nows

The sunshine has made an appearance just in time for me to get down to the beach for some seaside action this weekend! South Beach, Bridlington will be awash with all kinds of vehicles from yesteryear as it hosts the return of Race the Waves on Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th June. There’s lots going on around the town too including live music and a Steampunk festival. I’m looking forward to a Saturday filled with sun, sea, sand and sexy hotrods! For more info visit: Classics on the Green A hop, skip and a jump from East to West [...]

Ivan on display and supporting the Yorkshire Air Ambulance

Well, Ivan the Ital didn’t win a prize at my local Spring Gala last weekend, but seeing over 300 classics on display in our little village more than made up for it. He was in great company too, parked amongst some real head turners 😉 Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Events We’ll be out supporting a local run on Sunday which is raising funds for The Yorkshire Air Ambulance, an amazing charity that relies on the generosity of individuals and organisations to help them save lives. It costs £12,000 a day to keep both of the air ambulances in the [...]

It’s a right Royal weekend

It seems the whole of the country will be partying this weekend, any excuse for a good old knees up, eh? I, for one, will be consuming copious amounts of tea and cake...Yorkshire tea, obviously :-) Royal Classics When it comes to the Royal Family and cars, you probably think of Rolls Royce Phantoms, Range Rovers and Astons and you would be right to, they have owned plenty! But I reckon Queenie is a woman after my own heart when it comes to her taste in cars. Rumoured to be one of the favourite cars she ever owned is [...]

Ivan is welling up, Prescott Hill Climb and Auction Update

There’s been a lot of water falling from the sky in Yorkshire recently, most of which has unfortunately found its way into the nearside headlight of the Ital. It now resembles a rather fancy fish tank, so I’ve got the Haynes manual out and repairs are imminent! Prescott Hill Climb Saturday 28th May will witness my first visit to the Prescott Speed Hill Climb for the Bugatti Owners' Club brand new event, Prescott Historique. Showcasing nine decades of hill climbing, they will be welcoming cars and bikes from the early 1900’s right up to 1990, everything from an Austin [...]

David Brown Tractor Museum Review

We love ALL things classic here at Evoke, so when Jo and I were asked to attend the re-opening of the David Brown Tractor Club Museum just ‘over the road’ at Meltham, it was a solid YES from us. Housed just across from the original DB factory, the collection is managed by a group of volunteers who are doing everything in their power to preserve the heritage of the David Brown tractor. Time and time again we see these pieces of British history being swallowed up by modern day life, clubs like this are priceless and need to be [...]

A very happy Ital buyer and David Brown Tractor Museum Grand Opening

Have I told you lately just how much I love my job? Well, what’s not to like? I spend my days chatting to folk about classic cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles, basically anything with an engine, and then I get to find new homes for them. It’s brill. The lovely low mileage Morris Ital Estate sold last week, obviously a car very close to my heart, and I was over the moon when the new owner took time to tell me just how thrilled he was with his purchase. I reckon he and I are going to be good pals, [...]

Classic Motorcycle May-hem

Show season is definitely in full swing, the event we attended at Ripley Castle last weekend was jam packed with an eclectic mix of motors from every era. Just fab! Motorcycle Collection It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of two wheeled classics, yep I do love a Raleigh Chopper, but I’m talking about the ones you don’t have to pedal. So get ready for some Motorbike May-hem as Team Evoke have a new collection of lovely machines to offer, so which one is your favourite? Pop across to our auction page and feast your eyes on our lovely [...]

Historic Marathon Rally Group, Bank Holiday Events

What have you got planned for the Bank Holiday weekend? Something fabulous I hope 😊. Historic Marathon Rally Group I know the lads n lasses at the Historic Marathon Rally Group are super excited for this weekend. After shelving their festivities for two years due to Covid, they will finally get to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally on Sunday, at The British Motor Museum in Gaydon. In 1970, 96 teams set off from Wembley on their 16,000+ mile adventure through Europe, South and Latin America. Just 23 finished at the Aztec [...]

Drivers Day, Buyers Guides and Auction Lots

First things first, Ivan the Ital is back. On. The. Road. HURRAH!  Yep, after his recent surgery he’s back to full health and ready to hit the tarmac this weekend just in time for Drive It Day on Sunday 24th April. Drive It Day Created by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs in 2005, National Drive it Day gives us a chance to raise awareness and remind folk just how important the historic vehicle movement is. We need to keep our vehicles on our roads! Plus, the FBHVC donate proceeds from the sale of the Drive It Day [...]

Easter Eggs, Events and Judging Retro Fords

Has the Easter Bunny been yet? Gotta love a bit of choccy, and if you can’t use this weekend as an excuse to eat it then just what is the point! The Motorist hosts HubNut If you’re an avid watcher of automotive YouTubers you will certainly have come across Ian Seabrook. Also known as HubNut Ian will be over at The Motorist, Sherburn in Elmet this Saturday 16 April for a HubNut Social meet where he will chat all things car related. As usual, all cars are welcome, tickets are priced at £5 per vehicle – for more info visit.. [...]
