Mercedes SL420 1988
The Mercedes W107 was built as 'junior' version of the Mercedes V8 Roadster. The production started with the 380SL, then, in 1981, after just a year in production, the engine was changed for a small-bore, long stroke V8 of the same capacity. This caused a slight drop in power, however it improved the fuel economy. In 1985 the capacity was increased to 4.2 litres, which restored power figures to 218bhp.
This car is the more desirable 1986, 4.2 Litre model. It really is a very tidy, recently restored Mercedes convertible. Presented in Champagne Metallic with a Cream leather interior and matching hard top, this 420SL (R107) has covered 90,000 miles and has been in long term storage. Within the last few months, it has undergone a full body restoration, been professionally painted, recommissioned including all fluids, and serviced prior to being returned to the road.
The 420 is the rarest version of this ever popular SL range and this super example is supplied with a very good history file which includes manuals and receipts and the car is 'on the button' and ready to go. This car is a great opportunity into R107 ownership.
Some cars just get better with age and the W107 series Mercedes-Benz is fast becoming one of the most reliable and sought after collectable classics!
