Who better to give you a little bit of info about the Model C other than Norman Cycles Ltd themselves. The history folder we have with this little 1950 Auto Cycle contains a copy of the original Maintenance and Instruction Book, the ‘Introduction’ page really does say it all..

“The Auto Cycle has in some quarters been classed as the go-between the Cycle and the Motor Cycle. This may be true in a good many instances, but the Norman is designed and built for really hard work and is capable of taking you short journeys to work, for shopping and also for long journeys with as much ease as a Motor Cycle, but of course, a little slower.

These machines, apart from the engine, have many qualities in common with the bicycle and there is little in the way of adjustments and upkeep which cannot be undertaken with confidence by the average rider.

The Villiers engine is of two stroke cycle in operation and is equipped with self-contained clutch, flywheel magneto and lighting generator. The bicycle parts are of Norman design and manufacture throughout.

The frame is of unique design, jig built and accurately set. The cycle parts and accessories which are not of our manufacture have been carefully selected for high quality and efficiency which will give the rider many, and we hope happy miles of carefree riding.”

                                                                                                                                               Ashford, Kent

In recent years this lovely Norman has been used as a display piece by the vendor, we can see why, it really is very, very pretty.

He acquired it in 2012 to complement his already large collection of motorcycles. At that time the Norman was MOT’d and running well, it has since been stood, unused, so will need recommissioning.

The small history folder contains an old MOT certificate, a copy of the maintenance book and a dating certificate from the Vintage Motor Cycle Club in 2009 confirming its year of manufacture as 1950. You have probably noticed from the photographs, but the vendor would like to point out that the bike is missing it’s speedo. An easy fix.

Our View

To be honest there isn’t much more to say about ‘Norman’, the photos tell his story. You can see that he’s been loved. Oh…… and just how comfy does that saddle look!

Vehicle Location: North Yorkshire YO18– it’s the responsibility of the winning bidder to make collection / transportation arrangements directly with the vendor

Guide Prices?

We’re different. But you know that. And we’re always honest. In a sector where no two classics are same, how does anyone put a ‘guide’.

Well, everyone knows the broad value of classic, let’s all be honest. So we don’t need to tell you what you already know, do we.

The ‘market’ decides and the old cliché that ‘it’s worth what someone wants to pay’ is no less true. So why kid everyone!

But, because we are different, if it really does matter to you, that’s fine, we want you to be happy. Just drop us a line at auction@evoke-classics.com and one of  us will be delighted to ring you back and discuss, it’s what we do.

Tedious but it’s vital you read this, please.

We will always strive to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings available. However, we can’t claim to be perfect. Your own analysis is very important and we are here to help and also answer any and all queries you may have prior to purchase.

We offer and positively encourage bidders to view, or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding.

If we do take a physical, as opposed to a remote, look at any of the vehicles on our platform, they are not those of a qualified vehicle inspector or other professional. Nor do they include a test drive unless expressly stated.

As with all vehicles of a certain age, localised paint repairs are common. This specifically applies with classics.

So, please, unless we state explicitly to the contrary, please assume that classic vehicles on our platform could have had remedial bodywork of any kind at some point in its life.

Two final comments on images and photos.

The vast majority are supplied by vendors. Camera technology has and continues to improve significantly, but please note and understand that image and sound quality does vary. If you would like vendors to provide more images please ask us and we will contact the vendor for you.

If you are at all unsure, just ask us. It is what we are here for.

Finally, finally, finally. Please note that vehicles are sold as seen and a returns policy is not applicable. This is the norm for used items acquired at auction.
