Description

  • Lusso model
  • Two former owners in Italy
  • Recently restored
  • Black Leather interior
  • Rosso Red exterior
  • Peppy 500cc engine
  • Left hand drive

The Fiat 500 is the antidote to modern life. You can’t help but alter your mind-set every time you get behind the wheel. And not only will this Fiat 500 put a smile on your face every time you drive it, but the pint-sized Fiat will also put a smile on the faces of everyone who sees you out and about.

The 500 is cheap to run, easy to maintain and bursting with character. It’s said that the best things come in small packages and this one is a cracker.

Outside

  • Rosso Red
  • Recently restored
  • Looking very good indeed

Between 1968-’72 Fiat produced the upmarket ‘L’ or Lusso (luxury) version of the previous ‘F’ model.

  • It came with chrome bumper front and rear
  • Rectangular taillights
  • Round front indicators

The chrome additions on the Fiat 500 are all in good condition. They do add a nice touch to the Fiat’s exterior design. The Lusso also now came with a full-length sunroof, which is in good condition. At each corner it has the correct Pirelli Cinturato 125-SR12 tyres which again all appear to be in good condition.

The paintwork positively glows in probably the best colour for any Italian car. Look through the images you’ll note the usual suspect areas around the wheel arches, the boot lid, the front panel all give you confidence this has had a decent restoration with “lots of money spent on it” according to our vendor, Pasquale.

Pasquale has also very helpfully sent some photos of the underside of this little Fiat 500, take a look in the gallery.

Inside

The Fiat 500L also had an upgrade inside

  • A rectangular instrument pod unique to the Lusso
  • Carpets were fitted as standard
  • Vinyl now covered the dash
  • Door cards and other soft trim were update

The interior features black vinyl trimmed seats which are in good condition, with no rips or tears. Through lack of use, it has become a little dusty, that’s a nice job for the lucky new owner, to make it their own. The door cards are free from damage. A grey carpet set covers the floor, which is also in good condition. It is always good to see period features retained after any restoration. Items like the hard to find two-spoke steering are still place in this Fiat

Mechanically

  • Independent suspension all round
  • Rear mounted engine and transmission
  • Air-cooled, overhead-valve twin at 499cc

The Fiat 500 mechanicals are simplicity themselves and generally seen as robust. That is why there are a good few around and in the ‘old country’ they seem to go on and on, as anyone who has been to Italy will recall

The car’s very light steering, turns on a sixpence. The classic Fiat 500 delivers a more reassuring ride than you would imagine given its diminutive size wheels and tyres. It will buzz along happily at 50-60mph, but it is in town where it comes into its own. It is a brilliant city car for exploiting gaps and the tiniest parking spots. Beware though; once you park up people will want to chat and take pictures, allow a bit more journey time when you pop out in this Fiat.

Summary

Our vendor Pasquale is selling this well restored and well sorted Fiat 500 because he simply does not have the time to get the enjoyment from it. The car was imported from a small town in Southern Italy back in 2015 and Pasquale is the first and only UK owner.

On arrival in the UK, the car had done just over 56k km – now the odometer is sitting at 58,499 km so averaging out at less than 500 km a year in his ownership.

“It’s a sad sale”, he told us “I’m just not finding the time to enjoy its beauty recently so I’m really hoping to find a great home for him. Nothing beats classic Italy! This beautiful Fiat 500 from 1972 makes an amazing statement of that. It’s always been a head turner when driving down my local high streets. It is in great condition inside and out, Tax and MOT exempt. Fully restored lots of money invested into this classic! It had 2 owners before me in Italy.”

The Fiat 500L is a true classic. Its distinctive design, quirky interior, and impressive mechanical simplicity make it hugely popular. Whether you are looking for a reliable daily classci or a fun weekend run-around, the Fiat 500 L is practical and stylish. You will not be disappointed.

Vehicle Location: Petersfield, West Sussex GU31 – it’s the responsibility of the winning bidder to make collection / transportation arrangements directly with the vendor.

Guide Prices?

We’re different. But you know that. And we’re always honest. In a sector where no two classics are same, how does anyone put a ‘guide’.

Well, everyone knows the broad value of classic, let’s all be honest. So, we don’t need to tell you what you already know, do we.

The ‘market’ decides and the old cliché that ‘it’s worth what someone wants to pay’ is no less true. So why kid everyone!

But, because we are different, if it really does matter to you, that’s fine, we want you to be happy. Just drop us a line at auction@evoke-classics.com and one of us will be delighted to ring you back and discuss, it’s what we do.

Tedious but it’s vital you read this, please.

We will always strive to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings available. However, we can’t claim to be perfect. Your own analysis is very important, and we are here to help and answer any and all queries you may have prior to purchase.

We offer and positively encourage buyers to view or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding.

If we do take a physical, as opposed to a remote, look at any of the vehicles on our platform, they are not those of a qualified vehicle inspector or other professional. Nor do they include a test drive unless expressly stated.

As with all vehicles of a certain age, localised paint repairs are common. This specifically applies with classics.

So, please, unless we state explicitly to the contrary, please assume that classic vehicles on our platform could have had remedial bodywork of any kind at some point in its life.

Two final comments on images and photos.

The vast majority are supplied by vendors. Camera technology has and continues to improve significantly, but please note and understand that image and sound quality does vary. If you would like vendors to provide more images, please ask us and we will contact the vendor for you.

If you are at all unsure, just ask us. It is what we are here for.

Finally, finally, finally. Please note that vehicles are sold as seen and a returns policy is not applicable. This is the norm for used items acquired at auction.
