  • Manual

  • 3.6-litre flat six engine
  • 320bhp
  • 71,520 miles
  • Dealer Service History
  • Rare colour combination

The Porsche 911 is not just any sports car, in fact for many it is considered the sports car. The concentrated, quintessential essence of how a performance coupé should be. Over the years it has seen many iterations. The Porsche Carrera 4S was the pinnacle.

History

  • Registered new 2 May 2003
  • Owned by our vendor for 8 years
  • Covering less than 800 miles a year during that time
  • A new MOT until February 2024

The Porsche 996 carried on the 911 dynasty, but it did things slightly differently. The 996 was the first Porsche 911 to feature an engine that was liquid cooled. In many other respects German continuity was the order of the day. Styling in particular, stayed true to Porsche’s tried and tested formula. Subtle cues were added as a nod to modernity though, most notably the larger headlights.

While it was outwardly very similar to previous 911s, the 996 was in fact the first 911 not to use any significant components from the previous model. Some things never change. Porsche driving pleasure: fierce performance yet docile enough for daily use.

Mechanicals

  • Dealer Service History until 60,000 miles
  • Independently serviced between 60-70,000 miles
  • The last service carried out at 71,287 miles
  • When not in use, the 911 is garaged and kept on a Porsche trickle charger
  • 6-litre naturally aspirated flat-six
  • Six speed manual transmission
  • Permanent all-wheel drive

This Carrera 4S comes with the 320hp, 3.6-litre flat-six. It’s a wonderful engine; deep, resonant and charismatic. In six-speed manual, it delivers the very best the engine and running gear has to offer.

The brakes and suspension in the Carrera 4S are carried over from the 911 turbo model from the same range. The permanent all-wheel drive means you have a sure-footed and exciting driving experience.

The engine bay of this example is lovely and tidy. The recent MOT has no advisories. The service books are stamped and are in the Gallery, along with some example invoices. Our vendor fitted a full stainless steel Milltek exhaust at a cost of £1,200. The invoice for that is in the Gallery too.

Our vendor also tells us: “In my 8 years of ownership the car has never had a boroscope inspection, nor has had the IMS Bearing replaced. Never had any signs of any problems always starts and runs 1st time, everytime.”

Inside

  • Very rare Blue Leather upholstery
  • Electrically adjustable, heated front seats
  • Factory fitted electric sunroof
  • Electric windows and door mirrors
  • BOSE sound system
  • Air conditioning

Offering a lovely contrast to the glistening Polar Silver paintwork, the blue leather upholstery is in good condition with just a few small marks. There is minimal evidence of wear and tear.

The carpets look clean and neat. The door cards are in good condition along with the headlining.

That classic five dial dash looks very nice. Not that you’ll be looking at that as the Porsche hurtles you from 0-60 in 5.5 seconds, hey-ho.

Outside

  • Polar Silver paintwork
  • Completely original factory bodywork
  • Original ‘Turbo Twist’ alloys
  • £1,100 Ceramic Paint protection applied

The Porsche 911 in 996 form was facelifted for 2002. The Carrera 4S models were given the wider, Turbo style bodywork and stance. It gives the 911 a much more dynamic posture, with dramatic wide hips and smooth lines.

The very smart paint work is in no small part due to an expensive ceramic paint protection our vendor had applied. He tells us it really does work. On the very rare occasion it sees a splash of rain from the British Summer, he says you can physically see any droplets draining off and rolling away. The personal plate that is staying, coupled with the lovely condition means that you’d be hard pressed to tell that this car turns 20 years old this May.

At each corner are those factory Turbo Twist alloys in great condition, as you can see from the Gallery. They are wrapped with 295/30/18 ZR rubber.

This Porsche 911 does look like it has led a pampered life. As a small example, the 911 comes with its very own tailor-made Porsche fitted car cover. Just saying.

Our view

Our vendor, Stuart, said he searched for a while to find a decent 911 like this one. As you can see, he has kept it in fine form. The new lucky owner is going to own a very lovely Porsche 911.

Power, handling and looks all wrapped up in a classic you can use daily at a very affordable price. The current price levels are unlikely to stay like this forever, but the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S will always be a fabulous classic. Good luck bidding. If you’d like any further info, just give us a shout.

Good luck bidding! Please remember, our site uses anti-sniping software which ensures fairness to all bidders. So, if a bid for a lot is received in the last minute, the auction will go into a 2-minute overtime period for each subsequent bid.

Vehicle Location: Milton Keynes, Bucks MK4– it’s the responsibility of the winning bidder to make collection / transportation arrangements directly with the vendor.

 Guide Prices?

We’re different. But you know that. And we’re always honest. In a sector where no two classics are same, how does anyone put a ‘guide’.

Well, everyone knows the broad value of classic, let’s all be honest. So we don’t need to tell you what you already know, do we.

The ‘market’ decides and the old cliché that ‘it’s are worth what someone wants to pay’ is no less true. So why kid everyone!

But, because we are different, if it really does matter to you, that’s fine, we want you to be happy. Just drop us a line at auction@evoke-classics.com and one of us will be delighted to ring you back and discuss, it’s what we do.

Tedious but it’s vital you read this, please.

We will always strive to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings available. However, we can’t claim to be perfect. Your own analysis is very important and we are here to help and also answer any and all queries you may have prior to purchase.

We offer and positively encourage bidders to view, or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding.

If we do take a physical, as opposed to a remote, look at any of the vehicles on our platform, they are not those of a qualified vehicle inspector or other professional. Nor do they include a test drive unless expressly stated.

As with all vehicles of a certain age, localised paint repairs are common. This specifically applies with classics.

So, please, unless we state explicitly to the contrary, please assume that classic vehicles on our platform could have had remedial bodywork of any kind at some point in its life.

Two final comments on images and photos.

The vast majority are supplied by vendors. Camera technology has and continues to improve significantly, but please note and understand that image and sound quality does vary. If you would like vendors to provide more images please ask us and we will contact the vendor for you.

If you are at all unsure, just ask us. It is what we are here for.

Finally, finally, finally. Please note that vehicles are sold as seen and a returns policy is not applicable. This is the norm for used items acquired at auction.
