Portfolio The MG and the Quantity Surveyor

England is a strange country if you have been bought up in Africa and arrive at the age of 17 with no idea of what you want to do to earn a living.

Drifting along to a career seminar, I watched a film of a quantity surveyor who drove to work in his open top MG with his Bassett Hound sitting next to him, had a coffee, picked up some drawings, drove off in his MG, dropped in at a building site, looked at the drawings whilst on the scaffolding then drove home in his MG all the time accompanied by his dog.

That made the decision for me but it was 30 odd years before I got the MG which was a faithful friend for 20 years. And the dog – well that’s another tale.
