Description

  • MOT exempt and free road tax
  • Low mileage – believed to be correct
  • Comes with old MOTs and tax discs

The BSA Bantam is a two stroke motorcycle, produced by Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA) at Small Heath, Birmingham. Manufactured from 1948 as a 125cc engine until 1971 when the engine size had increased to 175cc. It’s estimated that up to half a million Bantams were produced.

The D14/4 is based on the D10. Introduced in 1966, the D10 is a175cc bike with 3 speed gearbox. The electrical system was revised with a Wipac alternator and rotor. The points were moved, but the bike’s external appearance was very similar to the earlier models.

D10 production ceased in 1967 and in 1968 BSA introduced the D14/4 that we have here. Similar to the D10 but with even greater power and the 4 speed gearbox was fitted across the range.

This BSA Bantam

This lovely BSA Bantam D14/4 in blue and chrome was originally registered on the 17th June 1968 in Liverpool.

The former keeper purchased the bike in 2003, only parting with it due to retiring from riding.

Our vendor has owned this BSA Bantam for a year and he’s now only selling due to a knee injury which means that unfortunately he can’t kick start the bike easily anymore so it needs to find a new home where it’ll be ridden and enjoyed!

The bike comes with the current V5, some old MOT certificates and tax discs. There’s also a copy of the parts manual, wiring diagrams etc. Due to its age, the BSA Bantam is registered for free road tax & is of course MOT exempt.

Our vendor purchased from a well known classics dealer and he believes that the 12k miles is correct and given the very good condition of the bike, we would expect that this is right, but we do not warrant mileage so please make your own enquiries.

He tells us that the bike would appear to be mostly original, the exhaust may have been replaced at some point and switches on the headlamp were replaced with what’s believed to be original fittings.

He goes on to tell us that there is some “original patina on the chrome fuel tank. It’s not concours but is in really good condition and has been used but not messed about with. It’s all tickety-boo and runs well.”

So, in summary, a ready to use BSA Bantam in very good condition, jump on and enjoy the late summer riding. Good luck bidding!

Vehicle Location:  Pickering, North Yorkshire YO18  – it’s the responsibility of the winning bidder to make collection / transportation arrangements directly with the vendor.

Guide Prices?

We’re different. But you know that. And we’re always honest. In a sector where no two classics are same, how does anyone put a ‘guide’.

Well, everyone knows the broad value of classic, let’s all be honest. So we don’t need to tell you what you already know, do we.

The ‘market’ decides and the old cliché that ‘it’s are worth what someone wants to pay’ is no less true. So why kid everyone!

But, because we are different, if it really does matter to you, that’s fine, we want you to be happy. Just drop us a line at auction@evoke-classics.com and one of us will be delighted to ring you back and discuss, it’s what we do.

Tedious but it’s vital you read this, please.

We will always strive to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings available. However, we can’t claim to be perfect. Your own analysis is very important and we are here to help and also answer any and all queries you may have prior to purchase.

We offer and positively encourage bidders to view, or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding.

If we do take a physical, as opposed to a remote, look at any of the vehicles on our platform, they are not those of a qualified vehicle inspector or other professional. Nor do they include a test drive unless expressly stated.

As with all vehicles of a certain age, localised paint repairs are common. This specifically applies with classics.

So, please, unless we state explicitly to the contrary, please assume that classic vehicles on our platform could have had remedial bodywork of any kind at some point in its life.

Two final comments on images and photos.

The vast majority are supplied by vendors. Camera technology has and continues to improve significantly, but please note and understand that image and sound quality does vary. If you would like vendors to provide more images please ask us and we will contact the vendor for you.

If you are at all unsure, just ask us. It is what we are here for.

Finally, finally, finally. Please note that vehicles are sold as seen and a returns policy is not applicable. This is the norm for used items acquired at auction.
