Description

  • LOW RESERVE
  • Sold as a donor car

This Daimler has been owned by the vendor since 2019. He intended to spend some time and energy getting it back on the road to use it as his daily. We all know about good intentions though don’t we! Three years later and the Daimler remains in the state in which he bought it and a change in circumstance means that the old lass now has to go.

We are offering the Daimler as a donor car, not a project, and as you read on you will make your own mind up as to its fate or future. Please take time to study the photographs as they tell the story about the car much better than we can.

  • Starting from the ground up, the chassis is very rotten, requiring welding front and back and the rear suspension mountings have simply disintegrated
  • Inner and outer sills are rotten and the floor has several areas of corrosion
  • Previous repairs with filler can be seen all around the car, with rust and paint bubbling clearly visible
  • Under the bonnet, the bulk head has several areas of corrosion, the engine looks to be complete though and turns over by hand. A brand new coil has been fitted
  • There is no battery, so the electrics could not be checked

Now for a little positivity!

Climb inside the Daimler and a smile can be raised. The interior, while showing signs of its 54 years of age, is surprisingly salvageable. As you can see from the photographs the seats are in need of some repairs, the door cards are useable and the door furniture is intact. The headlining is grubby but not saggy. The dashboard is complete. The glass is good and so is the brightwork.

The current V5, handbook and service booklet are provided with the car.

In summary, here is a Daimler 250 V8 donor vehicle which is complete and has many, many useable components. The old girl may be past her best but she still has plenty to offer.

Tedious but it’s vital you read this, please.

We will always strive to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings available. However, we can’t claim to be perfect. Your own analysis is very important and we are here to help and also answer any and all queries you may have prior to purchase.

We offer and positively encourage bidders to view, or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding.

If we do take a physical, as opposed to a remote, look at any of the vehicles on our platform, they are not those of a qualified vehicle inspector or other professional. Nor do they include a test drive unless expressly stated.

As with all vehicles of a certain age, localised paint repairs are common. This specifically applies with classic cars.

So, please, unless we state explicitly to the contrary, please assume that classic vehicles on our platform could have had remedial bodywork of any kind at some point in its life.

Two final comments on images and photos.

The vast majority are supplied by vendors. Camera technology has and continues to improve significantly, but please note and understand that image and sound quality does vary. If you would like vendors to provide more images please ask us and we will contact the vendor for you.

If you are at all unsure, just ask us. It is what we are here for.

Finally, finally, finally. Please note that vehicles are sold as seen and a returns policy is not applicable. This is the norm for used items acquired at auction.
