The classic MGBs are popular for a reason; they’ll put a smile on your face every time you jump in. Easy to drive, easy to live with and great fun.

This is a very smart MGB Roadster that turns heads wherever it goes.

Introduced in 1962 as an open-top Roadster only, the MGB went on to become the UK’s most loved classic sports cars.

That popularity today sees no sign of diminishing. Multiple owners’ clubs and an entire industry has built up around the MGB; they are such a fabulous classic car.

History

  • First registered 7 June 1974
  • An older restoration
  • Lightly used over two decades
  • The Roadster has covered approx. 400 miles a year since 2005

Inside

The interior of this MGB is very smart, original and in good clean orderly condition.

  • Black vinyl seats
  • Wood-trimmed steering wheel
  • New Hood (replaced by previous owners)
  • Rear screen is clear and mist free

Inside, the MGB Roadster is a very good place to be. Everything falls nicely to hand. The short, crisp gear changes make driving a complete joy. Everything is as it should be and all in good working order. The soft outer covering on the clock binnacle is starting to decay in a couple of places, but that is a nice easy fix. The main crinkle-finished dash, dials and controls all look good and operate correctly.

The black vinyl seats are very good, as you can see for yourself from the images. The carpets have also stood the test of time well.

Images of the inside of the boot area show no signs of damage or corrosion, which is a usually an accurate indicator of the rest of the MGB.

Outside

  • Damask Red
  • Minilites
  • Appears to be in very good condition

This is a very smart, clean Roadster. It looks very good.

The swage lines, door, bonnet and boot gaps are all clean and consistent. As you can see, the sills and A-pillars are all clean and tidy too.

The chrome on the bumpers, headlamps and trims look smashing. This MGB Roadster has clearly been no stranger to a good old polish on a Sunday.

Overall, you get the very clear impression of a smart, well looked-after classic car that hasn’t seen a lot of use.

Mechanicals

The classic MGB B-Series 1798cc engine is a strong, flexible, smooth engine.

Added to that is a distinctive sound track every time you depress your right foot or change up and down the easy shifting gear box.

The engine bay is as tidy as we’ve seen for a while, with new-looking ancillaries fitted. The front panel and inner wings show no evidence of the dreaded tin worm, the enemy of all classic car owners.

The engine comes complete with original features such as the ‘cake tin’ air filters. Features like this and others are often a sign of a cared for classic, that hasn’t been bodged.

Bottom line

Affordable, great to drive and easy to live with. There are few cars that deliver as much fun-per-mile as an MGB Roadster. Their light weight, engaging steering and decent power are the perfect antidote to modern life.

Whether this is your first foray into classic car ownership, or one of many, this very smart MGB Roadster is not to be missed.

Guide Prices?

We’re different. But you know that. And we’re always honest. In a sector where no two classics are same, how does anyone put a ‘guide’.

Well, everyone knows the broad value of classic, let’s all be honest. So we don’t need to tell you what you already know, do we.

The ‘market’ decides and the old cliché that ‘it’s worth what someone wants to pay’ is no less true. So why kid everyone!

But, because we are different, if it really does matter to you, that’s fine, we want you to be happy. Just drop us a line at auction@evoke-classics.com and one of us will be delighted to ring you back and discuss, it’s what we do.

Tedious but it’s vital you read this, please.

We will always strive to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings available. However, we can’t claim to be perfect. Your own analysis is very important and we are here to help and also answer any and all queries you may have prior to purchase.

We offer and positively encourage buyers to view, or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding.

If we do take a physical, as opposed to a remote, look at any of the vehicles on our platform, they are not those of a qualified vehicle inspector or other professional. Nor do they include a test drive unless expressly stated.

As with all vehicles of a certain age, localised paint repairs are common. This specifically applies with classics.

So, please, unless we state explicitly to the contrary, please assume that classic vehicles on our platform could have had remedial bodywork of any kind at some point in its life.

Two final comments on images and photos.

The vast majority are supplied by vendors. Camera technology has and continues to improve significantly, but please note and understand that image and sound quality does vary. If you would like vendors to provide more images please ask us and we will contact the vendor for you.

If you are at all unsure, just ask us. It is what we are here for.

Finally, finally, finally. Please note that vehicles are sold as seen and a returns policy is not applicable. This is the norm for used items acquired at auction.
