Alfa Romeo has made some of the most stylish cars. The 145 two-door hatchback is a perfect example. Tidy examples of Alfa Romeo’s sizzling hot hatch are now scarce. But find one and you’re in for a great deal of fun at a bargain value.

History

The Alfa Romeo 145 Cloverleaf, also known as the Alfa Romeo 145 Quadrifoglio was a sporty hot-hatch that the Italian automaker produced to keep up with its rivals.

The Cloverleaf version, introduced in 1996, was the top-of-the-line model.

  • It featured a more powerful engine
  • Sportier suspension
  • And distinctive Italian styling

Outside

This Alfa 145 has a distinctive and timeless design. It still looks fresh and stylish today. The wedge-shaped profile with a sloping roofline and short overhangs, give it a sporty and athletic stance.

This 145 Cloverleaf sits on 17” Mito alloys 15-inch alloy wheels. The Cloverleaf comes with lowered ride height, and a subtle body kit that includes a deeper front bumper and side skirts in the form of genuine Zender body kit. It does all look like a great package.

Inside

The interior of the Alfa 145 is sporty and driver-focused, with a stylish design and high-quality materials.

The dashboard has a clean and uncluttered layout, with easy-to-read gauges and a three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel. The front seats are supportive and comfortable, with plenty of lateral support and infinite adjustment for spirited driving.

Mechanicals

The sweet spot of the Alfa 145 Cloverleaf is the engine.

The naturally aspirated 2.0-litre 16-valve Twin Spark was borrowed from the superb Alfa 155. That engine, with its four valves per cylinder and variable valve timing, sent 150bhp  to the front wheels through a five-speed gearbox. It has power, character and noise. A wonderful noise!

The Cloverleaf models also features a sport-tuned suspension with stiffer springs and dampers, as well as larger anti-roll bars and a strut tower brace for improved handling. The brakes are upgraded as well, with larger discs and calipers for improved stopping power.

This one has gone a stage further

  • The subframes are all powder coated
  • It is fitted with Blistien shocks absorbers
  • And lowered springs

In addition to that this Alfa 145 has had

  • A recent belt change
  • A new thermostat
  • New head gasket
  • Along with a service
  • A full stainless steel exhaust

It is ready to go. And go it most certainly does.

Bottom line

The Alfa 145 Cloverleaf is a stylish, fun-to-drive hot-hatch with plenty of performance and personality. The car’s distinctive design, high-quality interior, and sporty suspension tuning make it a standout in its class.

Then there is that 2.0-litre Twin Spark engine.

Guide Prices?

We’re different. But you know that. And we’re always honest. In a sector where no two classics are same, how does anyone put a ‘guide’.

Well, everyone knows the broad value of classic, let’s all be honest. So we don’t need to tell you what you already know, do we.

The ‘market’ decides and the old cliché that ‘it’s worth what someone wants to pay’ is no less true. So why kid everyone!

But, because we are different, if it really does matter to you, that’s fine, we want you to be happy. Just drop us a line at auction@evoke-classics.com and one of us will be delighted to ring you back and discuss, it’s what we do.

Tedious but it’s vital you read this, please.

We will always strive to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings available. However, we can’t claim to be perfect. Your own analysis is very important and we are here to help and also answer any and all queries you may have prior to purchase.

We offer and positively encourage buyers to view, or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding.

If we do take a physical, as opposed to a remote, look at any of the vehicles on our platform, they are not those of a qualified vehicle inspector or other professional. Nor do they include a test drive unless expressly stated.

As with all vehicles of a certain age, localised paint repairs are common. This specifically applies with classics.

So, please, unless we state explicitly to the contrary, please assume that classic vehicles on our platform could have had remedial bodywork of any kind at some point in its life.

Two final comments on images and photos.

The vast majority are supplied by vendors. Camera technology has and continues to improve significantly, but please note and understand that image and sound quality does vary. If you would like vendors to provide more images please ask us and we will contact the vendor for you.

If you are at all unsure, just ask us. It is what we are here for.

Finally, finally, finally. Please note that vehicles are sold as seen and a returns policy is not applicable. This is the norm for used items acquired at auction.
