Description

  • Just one former owner
  • SUPER LOW mileage – 9254 miles
  • Stored carefully for many years

The Rover 800 Sterling has gained a large following over recent years and it’s not hard to see why with its plush, luxury interior which promises the driver pure comfort.

This super low mileage Rover surely has to be one of the best examples on the market today. With only 9,254 miles on the clock this car is like a time machine, the new owner will be transported back to 1999 and feel like he has just driven off the forecourt at the local Rover dealership.

Sadly from a deceased estate, this lovely Rover 800 Sterling is being sold by Angela, the daughter of the late owner. She is the best person to tell the story of the car so here are her words:

This Rover 800 Sterling was my late Dads car.  It is in Zircon Silver with a grey leather interior and the 2.5 KV6 engine.

It was first registered on 3rd September 1999 and bought from Colliers in Birmingham by a close friend of my Dad.

Sadly the first owner passed away shortly after having used the car very little, Dad purchased it from his widow in September 2002. The Rover was intended to be used and enjoyed as a second car but an accident at work meant that Dad was pensioned off from his job as an engineer, which meant that he was able to retire to rural Wales.

Unfortunately he soon realised that the Rover really wasn’t suited to the very narrow country lanes. Dad loved the car so instead of selling it he kept it under a duvet in the garage and it became part of our family.

He got an MOT on it every year and sometimes this was the only mileage the car did. As such the mileage is still only 9254 so the car is almost like new. Apart from a couple of small scratches on the bonnet the bodywork is free of any dents or marks and the paint looks perfect.

It was never used in the rain, the underside has been treated with underseal and I can’t see any rust anywhere. I’m not sure I remember Dad ever washing it (the house is supplied from a well) so a wash and a wax would really make it sparkle.

The beautiful interior looks perfect and is such a nice place to be. There is no wear on the drivers seat bolster, the leather is unmarked and it still smells new. The headlining has no sagging and the carpets are in excellent condition. The boot carpet has no marks and the boot floor is dry with no signs of ever being damp. All the switches and dials work with no electrical gremlins.

Dad fitted a reversing camera and screen which also work perfectly. The engine bay is very clean and the engine starts straight away and runs beautifully. I have no record of a cambelt change so that would probably need replacing and because of its very low miles and little use there is only one stamp in the service book from 2005.

We wouldn’t dream of parting with Dad’s Rover but unfortunately the garage also houses the emergency generator and with regular power cuts, the car makes it difficult to reach. Selling this much loved car will leave a massive space in the garage but the time has come for a new owner to give it the care and attention it deserves.”

Take time to look at the images and you’ll see for yourself that this car has been molly coddled it’s whole life. This is probably going to be the one and only time you will have the opportunity to purchase a 23 year old Rover Sterling that has covered less than 10,000 miles. Happy bidding.

Vehicle Location: Llandysul, SA44– it’s the responsibility of the winning bidder to make collection / transportation arrangements directly with the vendor.

 Guide Prices?

We’re different. But you know that. And we’re always honest. In a sector where no two classics are same, how does anyone put a ‘guide’.

Well, everyone knows the broad value of classic, let’s all be honest. So we don’t need to tell you what you already know, do we.

The ‘market’ decides and the old cliché that ‘it’s are worth what someone wants to pay’ is no less true. So why kid everyone!

But, because we are different, if it really does matter to you, that’s fine, we want you to be happy. Just drop us a line at auction@evoke-classics.com and one of us will be delighted to ring you back and discuss, it’s what we do.

Tedious but it’s vital you read this, please.

We will always strive to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings available. However, we can’t claim to be perfect. Your own analysis is very important and we are here to help and also answer any and all queries you may have prior to purchase.

We offer and positively encourage bidders to view, or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding.

If we do take a physical, as opposed to a remote, look at any of the vehicles on our platform, they are not those of a qualified vehicle inspector or other professional. Nor do they include a test drive unless expressly stated.

As with all vehicles of a certain age, localised paint repairs are common. This specifically applies with classics.

So, please, unless we state explicitly to the contrary, please assume that classic vehicles on our platform could have had remedial bodywork of any kind at some point in its life.

Two final comments on images and photos.

The vast majority are supplied by vendors. Camera technology has and continues to improve significantly, but please note and understand that image and sound quality does vary. If you would like vendors to provide more images please ask us and we will contact the vendor for you.

If you are at all unsure, just ask us. It is what we are here for.

Finally, finally, finally. Please note that vehicles are sold as seen and a returns policy is not applicable. This is the norm for used items acquired at auction.
