When Ford pulled the plug on the Fiesta after 47 years, for many of us who had grown up with the Fiesta model, a piece of motoring history ended. In a time when retro is cool we think Ford have made a major faux-pas. That’s why when this little Fiesta came into us we jumped at the chance to bring it to market.
Background story
Our vendor bought a house. In the adjoining garage, under a pile of cardboard boxes and books was this Fiesta. The previous owner had parked it up 9 years ago and there it sat, waiting patiently to be returned to the road.
Once uncovered, our vendor realised just what he had. A fifth generation Ford Fiesta in spanking good condition with just over 4,000 miles on it.
- First registered 31 July 2008
- Five speed manual
- 1.25-litre Zetec engine
- Five door hatchback
Inside
The interior design might be about as exciting as Ryan Air cattle class, but there is probably more room.
- Light Blue & Grey cloth seats
- Matching blue accents on the dash
- Matt Black door cards
- Dark Grey over mats
The full size spare tyre doesn’t look like its ever had a close encounter with tarmac in its life. What a time warp.
Outside
This is the racier face-lift model. We’re doing our best here team. That means it is packed with even more value and features.
- Diamond shaped front grille
- Larger wrap around headlamps
- Front driving lamps
- High level rear lamps
- Matt Black finishes on the door frames
Seriously, for a moment. Ford were under pressure from many other manufacturers who wanted to steal the Fiesta’s ‘best seller’ spot. Ford pulled out the stops. The fit, finish and design is unrecognisable from the earlier models that we know and love.
Those of you paying attention will have noticed a scratch on the rear bumper, things happen. Our vendor has left it as is.
Mechanicals
The mechanicals are pretty bombproof on a Fiesta. The 75bhp Zetec is plenty peppy enough to whizz about in. The extra fifth cog in the box makes longer journeys easier, compensating for the Ryan Air interior a little bit! Under the bonnet it looks neat and tidy and looked after.
The Fiesta has had an oil change and been MOT’d and detailed during the last 6 months and is now ready for a new owner to clock some mileage up!
Our view
It’s done 4,000 miles and had one previous owner. What more can we tell you?
The Fiesta defined the Super-mini sector and every other manufacture played catch-up. It defined an era of car production.
Whenever a maker stops production it is a bit like rubbish rock stars dying, everyone dashes out and buys their records. They then become collectable. Then valuable.
We think Ford made a boo-boo dropping the Fiesta line. Grabbing a late model, one previous owner, low mileage one seems like this seems to make good sense.
