 There are very few classic car brands that enjoy such instant recognition. There is only one name that is used to describe the best of everything, Rolls Royce. 

The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was produced from 1965 to 1980. The 1970 model year saw some updates and improvements to the Silver Shadow, making it an even more refined and luxurious car. 

One of the most significant changes for 1970 was the introduction of a thunderous 6.75-ltr V8 engine. This new engine produced 189 bhp and improved the Shadow’s all-round performance. Other updates for 1970 included improved power steering and a revised suspension system for a smoother ride. 

The 1970s Silver Shadow came with new headlights, a modified grille, and a slightly longer body. The interior of the car was already known for its luxurious features, but the 1970 model year saw the addition of optional air conditioning and a more advanced audio system. 

 Our vendor bought this car 2 months ago as part of a deceased estate. He actually purchased a property, but part of the deal was to clear the house of goods and chattels and what was in the garage – which was this handsome looking early Silver Shadow that had been parked up for the last four years. 

Since then, it has been stored in one of his units, which he has now let out to a tenant. As much as the new tenant likes the classic Rolls Royce, he’d like it much more if it were gone! 

John has literally done absolutely nothing to it since he has had this classic Rolls Royce. He went to the unit yesterday, washed it, with just soap and water, nothing else. With a set of jumps leads he tried to start it. It turned over fine but would not fire. He threw a couple of gallons of fuel in the tank and tried again. Same result. With some help, because John is not a car person, he “chucked some petrol down the carbs”, tried again and she fired up and ran until the fuel source expired. Pretty amazing we guess! 

Inside, John tells us the usual signs of age are apparent. The headlining has not flopped or dropped. The seats are not torn or split. The wood is not broken or cracked but in places it is flat. 

We understand there are three previous owners on the logbook. 

The online MOT data appears to reveal a classic that has only been run backwards and forwards to the MOT since 2006. John says the neighbours pretty much confirmed that when he cleared the house out.
