Background 

Ruff Cycles was founded in 2012. Their objective was clear; build awesome machines. Ruff are German based; they have their own frame manufacturing facilities in Bosnia-Herzegovina. These are not cheap Chinese imports.

With an eye for stunning design alongside cutting-edge innovation, the Ruff Cycles products have fun encoded in their DNA. 

Our vendor ordered the bike through Ridelow, Manchester on 23rd Nov 2021 and it took 10 – 12 weeks to manufacture, after which he received it in March 2022.

The Ruffian

The style of The Ruffian is based on electric motorbikes, the aluminium frames are made in Ruff Cycles own factories in Germany and Bosnia. The frames are powder coated to get that superb finish and colour. The leather saddle is specially ergonomically designed for this e-bike.  

Power 

The Ruff Cycle Lowrider is equipped with one of the strongest Bosch motors available; the Bosch Performance Line CX mid-motor provides a whopping 85 Nm of torque and 250W of power. The motor makes it lively and powerful, and the unit responds dynamically to pedalling force, speed, and pedalling frequency. The motor is noiseless and placed low down at the centre of the bike which gives a natural distribution of weight and balance, making it very stable.  

Bosch Power Pack Battery 

The 500Wh Bosch battery pack is cleverly concealed in the iconic steel ‘fuel’ tank. Bosch batteries are renowned in this sector for providing reliable and durable energy storage – the 500Wh capacity is good for up to 105 km. 

Running gear 

The Lowrider comes with ‘stepless shifting’. This unique gear hub from Enviolo allows you to change the gear ratio between your pedals and rear wheel in one continuous motion, meaning it delivers a wonderfully smooth riding experience.  

The power is transferred from the motor to the rear wheel with clean, durable, Gate Carbon Drive. These Gates Carbon Drives outlive chains, never need grease and are nearly maintenance-free. 

With such drive and power, the Lowrider is equipped to stop safely too. The Low Rider has hydraulic disc brakes offering bite and modulation. 

Featuring a huge, round LED headlight up front with LED rear lamps, it seems Ruff have thought of everything. 

Our view 

These e-bikes aren’t your run of the mill clone of all the other e-bikes on the market. These Lowriders have iconic looks. They go. They stop. And as you can see it is packed with personality. We’d buy it. Enough said
