What have you got planned for the Bank Holiday weekend? Something fabulous I hope 😊.

Historic Marathon Rally Group

I know the lads n lasses at the Historic Marathon Rally Group are super excited for this weekend. After shelving their festivities for two years due to Covid, they will finally get to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally on Sunday, at The British Motor Museum in Gaydon.

In 1970, 96 teams set off from Wembley on their 16,000+ mile adventure through Europe, South and Latin America. Just 23 finished at the Aztec Stadium in Mexico, 6 weeks later. The Ford Escort, FEV 1H of Hannu Mikkola and Gunnar Palm, took first prize.

A collection of surviving cars will be at Gaydon on Sunday, including FEV 1H, plus drivers and navigators from back in the day, along with displays of memorabilia, talks and interviews from the competitors themselves. Sounds like a grand old day out to me and it’s FREE! There will, of course, be the usual charges for the main museum. Which I would like to add is fabulous!

Guess Who Will Be At Ripley This Weekend

Joanne and I are attending the 37th Classic and Performance Motor Show at Ripley Castle on Monday, which promises to pack in all kinds of motors from classic motorcycles, kit cars, custom, vans, light commercials, trucks and Land Rovers. We’ll be the ones in the very fine Russet Brown Ital, so do come over and say hi if you spot us, we love a chit chat!

Auction Update

The stunning Lotus Eclat Excel Celebration found a new home yesterday. Bidding got very competitive, with the digital hammer finally going down at £16,750.

We were also delighted to get this feedback from the buyer of the Fiat Spider…

“Many thanks to Evoke Classics. I have searched for a car like this for quite a few years now and recently missed out on an anniversary model in America. The vendor was wonderful and really helpful and supportive. I wish your business all the best and future growth!”

We love this, it’s what we set out to do with this business; bring people together. Here’s some new lots, could one of these be your next cool classic?

  • 1968 Mini Cooper Mk2 bidding opens tomorrow
