They say ‘every dog has its day’ well maybe every cat should too. If we’re right, this Big Cat will definitely make that saying come true….

The Jaguar 420 has been the unloved cousin of other Jaguars’ in recent years, completely incorrectly in our view as they are outstanding cars.

This 1967 420 4.2 happens to have belonged to HRH The Queen’s best loved cousin, Lord Mountbatten. He owned it from new for a number of years, when it was then sold but stayed in the UK. After Mountbatten died in a bomb attack by the IRA, the Mountbatten estate bought the car back into family ownership. It retains many of Mountbatten’s unique features including the one-off colour scheme that graced all his cars.

It comes to the market via an auction at Sotheby’s in London this month. With a guide price of £10-20,000, to our mind it looks like amazing value.
