Find another one like this.. One of Fords rarest factory one-offs is coming to the market this month. The on-line classic car auction platform, Car & Classic is auctioning a one-off factory Capri 2.8, which was built specifically for none other than Henry Ford (the 2nd) himself.

The Capri started life like all over Capris at that time on the Cologne production line. But having been chosen as the Special One, this Capri underwent a transformation that included additional layers of paint, comfort features such as automatic box and wider, leather trimmed seats and door cards. We wouldn’t mind betting the final quality control on this one was something rather special too! The upgrade work on AVW109X was undertaken by Ford’s legendary SVE division at Dunton. No pressure then!

Whilst not matching the royal lineage that is Henry Ford the outstanding provenance doesn’t end there. In 1983 Henry sold the Capri and it was bought by the Head of Product Development at Ford Motor Company UK. He kept it until 1986. When he’d finished with it, he pinned a small classified ad on a billboard at one of the Ford offices and it was quickly snapped by another Ford employee, this time a designer.

The car has featured in a number of articles, magazines and books about Capris. As you’d expect the car comes with a very good history record too. With Ford prices rocketing we’re sure this one-off will breeze past the listed guide price of £30,000. What a fabulous piece of British motoring history.
