Is there anything cooler than a classic VW T2 Camper Van? Judging by the conversations you’ll have wherever you go and the thumbs up from other drivers as you pass, then no is the answer.

The colour scheme and exterior ‘Old Skool’ look of this early 1968 Bay Window is bang-on trend now too. All new inside and mechanically overhauled, it is ready to use and enjoy.

Outside & Underside

The best bit is that there’s no recent respray covering anything up, you can see exactly what you’re dealing with. Do not be put off. Have a look at the images in the Gallery and you’ll see how rock solid this VW is. This Amber with Burnt Orange pinstripe colour scheme is absolutely on trend in the current VW camper van scene.

The images show the vehicle on a ramp, obviously. Firstly, check out areas such as the jacking points and sills. The ramp is load-bearing on these points. That says it all.

Dive further underneath into the wide-ranging under-body images and they all really speak for themselves. The usual suspects such as outriggers, floors and chassis members are all well preserved.

Take your virtual tour of the VW back topside. Images with carpet lifted in the cabin reveal the condition of those wheel arches. Seldom do 1968 VWs survive like this one in this area.

A replacement 1641cc engine has been fitted with new ancillaries including exhaust, heater exchangers, distributor, starter motor, battery, pre-heater hose, fuel pump. This twin port is fitted with an alternator which is vastly superior to the early dynamos.

The work continues with the suspension and running gear.

  • Chrome Five Spokes
  • New Flexi pipes
  • Ball joints
  • Front beam axle
  • Torsion arms
  • Hubs
  • Track rods
  • Handbrake cables
  • Shock absorbers
  • Copper brake pipes and we’re sure quite a bit more too.

On top of that any parts that were not renewed we are told have been checked, refurbished and refitted.

The classic VW camper lifestyle is all about the interior. Just take a minute to look at the lovely images of the interior; this one is a new and rather expensive installation by Quirky Campers. QC have been featured in many national lifestyle publications and are renowned for their quality.

It comes with pretty much everything you’ll need;

  • A full width bed
  • A neat double burner – just right for a morning fry-up
  • Loads of storage space
  • Floor covering
  • Fold up table

At the front, the seats have been re-stuffed and covered in the same matching cloth as the rear, as have the door cards. It comes together very nicely.

Buying a VW camper is all about being able to have the freedom to bomb about between places. But as the day draws in, be in a nice, clean, tidy and usable space. This one has it all.

Our View

What a cracking camper.

Solid underneath. Upgraded engine. Comprehensively and fully overhauled mechanically. And uber trendy on the outside with the old skool look.

The engine makes it useable in all conditions. The mechanicals mean it is reliable. The interior means comfort and relaxation. Put all three together and you start to think, life is short, what am I waiting for. Well, don’t wait any longer, Glastonbury is just around the corner.

Good luck bidding! Please remember, our site uses anti-sniping software which ensures fairness to all bidders. So, if a bid for a lot is received in the last minute, the auction will go into a 2-minute overtime period for each subsequent bid.

 Guide Prices?

We’re different. But you know that. And we’re always honest. In a sector where no two classics are same, how does anyone put a ‘guide’.

Well, everyone knows the broad value of classic, let’s all be honest. So we don’t need to tell you what you already know, do we.

The ‘market’ decides and the old cliché that ‘it’s are worth what someone wants to pay’ is no less true. So why kid everyone!

But, because we are different, if it really does matter to you, that’s fine, we want you to be happy. Just drop us a line at auction@evoke-classics.com and one of us will be delighted to ring you back and discuss, it’s what we do.

Tedious but it’s vital you read this, please.

We will always strive to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings available. However, we can’t claim to be perfect. Your own analysis is very important and we are here to help and also answer any and all queries you may have prior to purchase.

We offer and positively encourage bidders to view, or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding.

If we do take a physical, as opposed to a remote, look at any of the vehicles on our platform, they are not those of a qualified vehicle inspector or other professional. Nor do they include a test drive unless expressly stated.

As with all vehicles of a certain age, localised paint repairs are common. This specifically applies with classics.

So, please, unless we state explicitly to the contrary, please assume that classic vehicles on our platform could have had remedial bodywork of any kind at some point in its life.

Two final comments on images and photos.

The vast majority are supplied by vendors. Camera technology has and continues to improve significantly, but please note and understand that image and sound quality does vary. If you would like vendors to provide more images please ask us and we will contact the vendor for you.

If you are at all unsure, just ask us. It is what we are here for.

Finally, finally, finally. Please note that vehicles are sold as seen and a returns policy is not applicable. This is the norm for used items acquired at auction.
