A Jaguar is a British tradition. Mentions of the marque evokes visions of classic Jaguars such as the E-type and XK120. This reputation has been continued by the XK8. This superb Grand Tourer is every inch a Jaguar and every inch a world class sports car. Silky smooth, it will pamper and excite you in equal measure.

• Bought as a birthday present to himself, our vendor has owned this XK since 2016
• Showing 66,000 miles but had a speedo change a couple of years ago, the actual mileage is believed to be around 82,000 miles

When the roof is down, the wind deflector makes a huge difference and is a nice bonus. The hood could do with a long soapy wash. The front bumper has the usual stone chips associated with this model. This XK8 comes with a car cover, seen in the images, and an additional tonneau cover in cream. The rear boot space and aperture is nice and practical and comes with a cargo mat.

Inside

Designer Karen Anderson’s beautifully trimmed cockpit design has darker veneers and a leather combination. This makes the cabin of this XK8 a pleasant and attractive place to sit, with light brown carpets and cream leather offset by the very traditional walnut veneered dashboard.

The walnut veneer is in good condition. The interior of the convertible hood could benefit from a valet. It is not unusual for the inner trim to become a little flaccid like this one has. The pedal rubbers and heel plates in the carpet are in the images, and as you can see, their condition suggests a well cared for classic.

Mechanicals

The XK8 featured an all new V8 unit. This powerplant, a 32-valve V8, surpasses Lexus, BMW and Mercedes in all the crucial areas; power, performance and efficiency.

Better still, it’s been married to an astoundingly smooth five-speed automatic gearbox. Set it in ‘Sport’ mode, floor the throttle and hit sixty in just six and a half seconds – all the way up to a restricted top speed of 155mph.
