If there’s one car that captures the spirit of Italian automotive passion, it’s the Alfa Romeo Spider. This Spider combines design, performance and passion
Background/History
The Alfa Romeo GTV and the Alfa Romeo Spider (Type 916) ran from 1993 to 2004. The Spider is a two-seater roadster version of the GTV. The GTV’s name, Gran Turismo Veloce, means Fast Grand Touring. It suits it.
The Alfa Spider was the replacement for the then 30-year-old 105-series Giulia Spider. It had big shoes to fill and does it superbly.
Outside
The Alfa Romeo Spider Lusso T-Spark 16V has jaw-dropping design. Sleek lines, seamless curves, and classic proportions. The Spider’s vibrant colour options only serve to enhance its appeal.
This is a 1999 Phase 2 Facelift model
As shown in the Gallery, there are some minor touch-ups that have been carried out.
Inside
Inside the cockpit, you’re greeted with both luxury and sporting pedigree. Supple leather upholstery, exquisite stitching, and brushed aluminium all create a feel of refinement with a hint of performance.
Mechanicals
But it’s under the bonnet where the Spider Lusso T-Spark 16V truly shines. The T-Spark 16V engine, with its 2.0-ltr displacement and 16 valves, is a powerhouse that ignites the driver’s passion. The engine note is nothing short of symphonic, serenading your senses with a crescendo of mechanical melody as you unleash its full potential on the open road.
Summary
The trend for the Type 916 Alfa Romeos is now on the increase. Their unique balance of styling, performance and value is attracting a lot of interest. The Zoe Yellow examples have been adored for ever. The Twin Spark models tend to be more popular since they’re generally acknowledged as the better handler and costing less to run.
A timeless Italian convertible. Style, exhilarating performance and captivating design. Unmistakably Alfa. Undiluted fun.
