Perhaps the best-looking Jaguar since the XJ220. The Jaguar XK8 is performance, panache, and presence all in a superb British classic sports car package.  

The stunning looks combined with awesome performance from the 290bhp V8 engine make the XK8 a very good all-round classic car. 

As the 90s approached, a dedicated Jaguar team began working on a new sports car project.  

To save time and cost, the team retained and modified the floorplan from the XJS and borrowed an existing rear suspension set-up from the saloon Jag. Then they added an all-new double wishbone suspension at the front end with a superb all new 32-valve quad cam V8 engine. The Jaguar XK8 launched at the Geneva Motor show to rapturous Press reviews. Jaguar knew they had a winner.  

The first thing you notice is the marvellous sound of the quad-cam V8. Pushing out 290bhp the powerful engine makes the XK8 handle like a sports car should. The five speed ZF auto ‘box makes the XK8 a joy to drive. The Jaguar XK8 is a grand tourer like no other. Cruising is effortless. But put your foot down and the quad-cam V8 gets a real howling move on. 

Work carried out in our vendor’s ownership by an independent Jaguar specialist in Harrogate.

Our vendor says the XK8 “Starts and runs perfectly”. 

The cabin space has a light, bright spacious feeling. In true Jaguar fashion, the interior is a reminder of the manufacturer’s attention to detail. The good condition black leather goes very well with the silver exterior

The seats are in good condition for the mileage, with the driver’s seat of course showing slightly more wear than the other seats.  

The rear seats, on the other hand, look like new; a result of probably never having been used. Having said that, there is plenty of room, this XK8 is a genuine 2+2 sports car. 

Door cards, carpet, headlining and all interior trim look excellent for their age. This is rare on these models; they can get a bit careworn. The lovely light walnut dash looks good too. 

This Jaguar XK8 comes with both keys and fobs. 

Italian style is often banged-on about. But Jaguar really did pull it off with the XK8. It is one of best-looking coupes they made.

Overall, the paint and body are in good condition. You’d be hard pressed to think this XK8 is nearly 23 years young. The brilliant design and sharp lines of this XK8 have aged well. In Platinum Silver it is a very classy looking Jag. 

Bottom line 

The XK8 range offers impressive style and performance at great value for money. That won’t be the case for ever. The accomplished and sophisticated Jaguar XK8 is increasingly appreciated in the classic market. 

There are lot of XK8s on the market to choose from. A lot come with big miles, little paperwork and even less care. 

With low mileage, a lot of money recently spent and plenty of documentation, this is one XK8 you should take a long look at.
