The magnificent Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante, a creation that emerged from the visionary mind of the fledgling design maestro, Ian Callum. This automotive masterpiece was released at the 1993 Geneva Motor Show with an aura of undeniable allure, capturing the hearts of all who laid eyes on it.  Struggling at the time, Aston Martin’s destiny was forever altered, propelling the brand to unprecedented heights of success and acclaim until its grand successor arrived in 2004.

At its inception, the DB7 Vantage boasted a supercharged 3.2-liter straight-six engine. However, in 1999, Aston Martin reignited the dormant flame of the legendary “Vantage” moniker, unleashing a ferocious V12 variant upon the world. This resurrection marked the momentous return of a hallowed badge, signifying a harmonious union between heritage and innovation within the Aston Martin stable.

Majestically fuelled by a 6.0-litre, 414 horsepower V12 engine, the DB7 Vantage effortlessly shattered the confines of speed. Catapulting from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 5.1 seconds and keeping going until it settled at an awe-inspiring top speed of 165 mph.

Visually, the DB7 Vantage maintained the essence of its straight-six predecessor, subtly refining its aesthetic prowess with the only evidence being the fog lamps below the headlamps, the redesigned mirrors, and of course that iconic Vantage badge on the rear.

This particular Vantage will come to market with the V5, a brand spanking new MOT, loads of invoices and the owner’s manual – containing plenty of the all-important main dealer stamps along with some from Aston specialists towards its later years.

Both sets of keys are also still with the Vantage.

Exterior

The Aston Martin DB7 is a beautiful looking car; you can look at the car for hours and not be bored. In Volante form that beauty is extended further as it creates a different shape from the edge of the fabric roof back from the side profile; all the better for it in our opinion.  What’s even better is having the roof down to listen to that 5.9-litre V12 scream to the redline… More on that shortly.

Being somewhat fastidious, our vendor has explained that the silver bodywork is as stunning now as it was when it left the factory with the only noticeable blemish being a small crack in the bumper under the driver side headlamp.

The roof looks fantastic whether up or down and works as it should. As seen in the images the button-down roof cover will come with the car to give that wonderful sleek look that the Volante is famous for.

A truly stunning example from Aston Martin, one that put them back on the map as a serious car manufacturer.

Interior

After catching your breath and pulling yourself away from the stunning exterior, the next step is to press the remote and pull on the door handle to open the driver’s door.

The first thing you notice is the quality of the grey and black upholstered leather and walnut trim. As you would expect from a marque model of a brand such as Aston Martin, they made a statement with this interior that said pure luxury…. We think they managed that and then some….

Bearing in mind that this DB7 is now 20 years old, you would never know it from quality and condition of the interior.  We would challenge you to find one of this age in this good a condition.  The usual driver seat bolster wear is absent and there isn’t any discolouration or wear in any areas of the seats.

The door cards are in perfect condition and the carpets are great, all the walnut whether on the door cards or the dash present wonderfully with no signs of delaminating or fading.

As expected, every switch and lever work as they should including the lush, heated seats.

Engine

The Aston Martin DB7 Vantage is equipped with a 5.9 litre, 48 valve, V12 engine mated to a five-speed auto transmission. This mighty engine generates 400 lbft of torque at 5,000 rpm and a maximum power output of 420 hp at 6,000 rpm. It can accelerate from 0 to 97 km/h (60 mph) in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 266 km/h (165 mph).

Serious power and delivered smoother than the proverbial baby’s bottom. This really is a magnificent engine.

As previously mentioned, this DB7 has been treated just as you would expect a premium top of the range Aston Martin should – with plenty of main dealer stamps in the service book, followed by Aston Martin Specialists stamps throughout its later years. The last service being carried out less than 500 miles ago.

Looking at the condition and considering that warranted 64k mileage, you can be sure that this DB7 has had a very pampered life and will want for nothing going forward.

Wheels Tyres Suspension and other

The original nine spoke nineteen-inch alloy wheels are absolutely immaculate and are wrapped in 265/30 ZR19 rubber that have plenty of tread left.

As expected, the DB7 Vantage handles exceptionally well, and this particular model is no different; our vendor explained it is silky smooth and is showing no signs of wear or strange noises. The double wishbone suspension and anti-squat and anti-lift technology keep the back end under control, adding to the exceptional handling expected of such a marque car.

Our view

The Aston Martin DB7 is a thoroughbred sports car with GT levels of comfort and refinement. Combining Aston Martin’s unique character with an uncompromising design philosophy, the DB7 was born when Aston Martin were in a perilous position as a company and testament to the Ian Callum design. The public loved it, and we can see why.

This stunning silver on grey and black example is possibly the best colour combination and is still presenting as good as it did when it left the showroom. With such low warranted mileage and a brand-new MOT, we expect it to be a very popular auction so get your bids in early and join the glitterati of becoming an Aston Martin owner – and a Vantage one at that!
