Since its inception, the Land Rover Defender has earned a legendary reputation, thanks to its incredible practicality, near-endless potential and excellent dependability. As a result, the platform continues to receive plenty of admiration, with the 110 being the main choice for those in need of a more spacious, and practical model.

Background

  • First registered 6th September 2011
  • Only 3 previous owners
  • MOT’d until 20/12/2024

Our vendor shared that prior to his ownership three years ago the previous owner owned it for two years and only added a couple of hundred miles to the odometer, this also meant he created the only small gap in its service history.

The good news is that before and since those two years we have a very well looked after Defender, fully serviced with any issue immediately sorted.

Used less and less recently our vendor has decided to let it go to a new home. The MOT history shows that the 127,021 mileage is correct and that any issue raised at the annual inspection has been dealt with along the way. This is also borne out by the stamps in the service book.

Inside

  • Central Locking
  • Electric windows
  • Good condition throughout
  • CD player
  • Rear dog guard fitted
  • Half leather interior
  • Heated Seats

Modern Defenders are much more comfortable than their predecessors and this very tidy Land Rover is a great example of those improvements over the years. Fitted with front electric windows, central locking and air conditioning, the double cab is a very nice place to be indeed.

Still very robust, the original interior is in fantastic condition and presents very well. The door cards, headlining and half leather seats are described by our vendor as being “in excellent condition, with no rips or tears or stains”. That lovely factory steering wheel with power assistance sits in front of the very well-designed dashboard that carries a myriad of switches and buttons that are all in great condition and work everything correctly. The CD head unit also works as it should.

The carpets are in great condition having been protected by carpet mats topped with rubber over mats.

Outside

  • Side Steps
  • Tow Bar
  • 16-inch Alloys
  • Colour Coded Arches
  • Chequer plated Front & Wings
  • Wax oiled

Few British cars are as famous, as recognisable, or as rugged as the Defender. Originally designed in 1948 it has not changed a great deal although there is a certain modern look to this last variation.  The XS we have here is loaded with extras that the basic version lacks.

With chequer plate topped side steps and wings adding to the rugged colour coded arches and engine snorkel you must agree it does look the part.

Spend a little time scanning the images and you will spot a thumb sized dent on the near side front wing, hardly noticeable and not having broken the lacquer it is nothing to be concerned about. There is also a little rusting on the bottom hinge of the rear door and a grommet missing from the rear tow bar/bumper bar.

Other than that, it is in great condition. Our vendor shared that the underside was wax oiled a couple of years ago so there are no issues on the underside either.

A great looking, rugged off roader in the right colour combination. What’s not to like?

Mechanicals

The 2.4 litre Diesel engine is famously bombproof, add to that the virtually full service history and you have a Landie that will run and run. Just look at how many of these Land Rovers are still on the road; literally thousands of Series 1,2,3s and Defenders are still going. Testament to the famous design and rock-solid engineering.  This example is no different.

Fitted with an engine Snorkel and the famous off-road capabilities these really are go anywhere vehicles. Snow and ice – no problem, deep ford – no problem, muddy tracks – no problem, steep muddy hill – no problem…  I think you get the picture.

As previously shared, the Defender has been very well looked after, some might even say spoilt. It has wanted for nothing and in recent years has benefitted from the list below:

  • New Clutch
  • New Matching Goodyear Grabber Tyres
  • Reconditioned Gearbox
  • New rear shock absorbers

Add to the above the fact it had its most recent service carried out less than six months ago, you really will be buying a very well looked after example.
