I am looking to buy and fit a set of Surflex friction clutch plates to my BSA A10, does any of you chaps out there know if I do away with the clutch cover dome and run these plates in a wet clutch, or are they dry use only, it was interesting to discover that several classic bike parts suppliers are unable to answer this question.

I was unable to find anyone who knew if I could run the clutch plates in oil, so I bit the bullet and fitted the new Surflex clutch plates leaving the domed clutch cover off, I put straight sae20 monograde oil in the primary chain case and to date I have covered just over 300 miles on my A10 without any problems, in fact the clutch is working better than it has during my 28 years of ownership, no slip or drag just a lovely clutch.

Ahh, great news… I love it when a plan comes together.
