Description

  • Serviced and MoT’d for the last 23 years
  • Always garaged
  • MoT’d until October 2023
  • Regularly used
  • Affectionately known as Miriam!

Is there anything else better than seeing a Morris Minor trundling along the byways going about its business? Yes, actually there is. It’s seeing a Morris 1000 Convertible, with the top down, pootling about!

The Moggie needs no introduction, does it. So here are couple of useless irrelevant ‘facts’ instead.

Tiff Needell learned to race in one. Believe that if you will. The codename for the original Moggie was Mosquito.. that one is definitely true!

Many people swear that the Moggie is the only classic car you’ll ever need. Long live the Morris Minor.

Miriam, as she is affectionately known, has been with our vendor for 23 years, but reluctantly, the time has come to find a new home for her.

Purchased from the Charles Ware Morris Minor Centre in 2000 with an odometer reading of 13,900 miles, the Morris Minor 1000 Convertible has always been garaged and used regularly. You may have seen Miriam ambling across the North York Moors in the summer months, as the vendors husband used her on a weekly basis going about his duties as a Voluntary Ranger. What a job eh?!

During their ownership the Morris has been serviced and MoT’d every year, YES, EVERY YEAR,  by Tom Roy Motors, and anything that needed putting right was put right. All the invoices are present with the paperwork along with the original sales invoice from Charles Ware.

Significant work done includes

  • Recon engine 2012
  • New front wings 2013
  • New rear wings 2018
  • Refurbish and respray bonnet 2016
  • Refurbish and respray boot 2018
  • Refurbish and respray doors 2018
  • Alternator fitted 2016
  • Stainless steel rails 2015
  • Steel exhaust 2010
  • New radiator 2009
  • New battery 2023

Take a look at the pictures in the photo gallery, there’s lots of them. You’ll see that this Morris Minor does have some crusty bits, she is fifty four years old after all. The bottom of the doors need some attention and the paintwork is cracked in some areas.

The more recently sprayed panels don’t quite match and there are areas that have been touched up. The bumpers do have some pitting, the wheels could do with a little TLC. The hood also has some damage. But she’s been loved, unconditionally.

The interior, although nice and bright, has some damage to the front seats and the rear seats are marked. The vendor has tried to remove the marks to no avail.

The current mileage of 30,805 is not warranted, as at some point the cable was replaced.

The 1098cc engine starts on the button and sounds just lovely, the deserved reward for being regularly maintained.

Our view

We had the pleasure of meeting Miriam and her vendors and it was plain to see that she’s been a huge part of their life. We could have chatted for ages about all the good times spent with this little car. Yes, she not perfect, but if you’re looking for an honest classic that you could jump in tomorrow and enjoy, you’ve found it.

Morris Minor 1000 convertible prices vary hugely, this one has been realistically reserved and is here to be sold. Happy bidding.

Good luck! Please remember, our site uses anti-sniping software which ensures fairness to all bidders. So, if a bid for a lot is received in the last minute, the auction will go into a 2-minute overtime period for each subsequent bid.

Vehicle Location: York, North Yorks YO61 – it’s the responsibility of the winning bidder to make collection / transportation arrangements directly with the vendor.

Guide Prices?

We’re different. But you know that. And we’re always honest. In a sector where no two classics are same, how does anyone put a ‘guide’.

Well, everyone knows the broad value of classic, let’s all be honest. So we don’t need to tell you what you already know, do we.

The ‘market’ decides and the old cliché that ‘it’s worth what someone wants to pay’ is no less true. So why kid everyone!

But, because we are different, if it really does matter to you, that’s fine, we want you to be happy. Just drop us a line at team@evoke-classics.com and one of us will be delighted to ring you back and discuss, it’s what we do.

Tedious but it’s vital you read this, please.

We will always strive to offer the most descriptive and transparent auction listings available. However, we can’t claim to be perfect. Your own analysis is very important and we are here to help and also answer any and all queries you may have prior to purchase.

We offer and positively encourage buyers to view, or arrange inspections for each vehicle thoroughly prior to bidding.

If we do take a physical, as opposed to a remote, look at any of the vehicles on our platform, they are not those of a qualified vehicle inspector or other professional. Nor do they include a test drive unless expressly stated.

As with all vehicles of a certain age, localised paint repairs are common. This specifically applies with classics.

So, please, unless we state explicitly to the contrary, please assume that classic vehicles on our platform could have had remedial bodywork of any kind at some point in its life.

Two final comments on images and photos.

The vast majority are supplied by vendors. Camera technology has and continues to improve significantly, but please note and understand that image and sound quality does vary. If you would like vendors to provide more images please ask us and we will contact the vendor for you.

If you are at all unsure, just ask us. It is what we are here for.

Finally, finally, finally. Please note that vehicles are sold as seen and a returns policy is not applicable. This is the norm for used items acquired at auction.
